Older Generations: Giving to our Community
They help us raise our children, participate actively in our political process and serve as generous donors, volunteers and friends.
They are the older generations in our communities. Without them, our lives would not be complete. Learn more about how our communities rely on older generations.
Your gift benefits more than 10,000 people each year who rely on Augustana Care to help them live the lives that most inspire them.
Responding to Changing Needs
At Augustana Care, we learn from older generations by listening to them. We champion the value older generations bring to our communities, and work to anticipate their needs.
While most people want to stay in their homes as they grow older, fewer family members are available to provide care. The fact is our communities are changing. The number of adults aged 85 and older is growing faster than any other group nationwide, projected to grow from 6 million in 2010 to 7 million in 2020. The number of people aged 75 and older is projected to be over 33 million by 2030, according to the Census Bureau.
Augustana Care’s leadership envisions a future where a greater number of people in our community benefit from our work:
- More family members gain peace of mind because loved ones are in a welcoming, supportive setting
- More people age in place with help from Augustana Care adult day and home modification services
- More return home from in-patient care to independent lifestyles with the help of medical care and therapy
- More families and residents find hope and experience less anxiety through an increase in spiritual care for all faiths and traditions
Augustana Care needs the support of generous individuals to serve those who give so much to all of us. More importantly, the community needs your support to help older generations live full, vibrant lives. The ancient word for philanthropy is “philanthropia,” which means a voluntary action for the common good. Philanthropy will play a crucial role in how many people Augustana Care can serve.
