Augustana Care’s 1896 Society:
Join and inspire others to support our mission!
In 1896, Augustana Care was founded to help those in need who had settled in Minneapolis. Our tradition of philanthropy was anchored by the belief that helping others matters, because every life is precious and full of potential. More than 120 years later, Augustana Care is still dedicated to those we serve, and now focuses on older generations as well as others in need.
We invite you to support the work of Augustana Care by joining the 1896 Society, a group of donors who give $1,000 or more to Augustana Care each year. The name acknowledges Augustana Care’s heritage, as well as its commitment to philanthropy and community. For a roster of the Society’s current membership, click here.
Why is the 1896 Society important? Augustana Care wants to honor supporters who donate $1,000 or more and at the same time, inspire others to join and support our mission.
When you first join the 1896 Society, your generosity will be honored with an art print created by one of our former residents, Lorraine Berger. The title of the painting is “First Snowfall on Horse Hill.”
You may either make a pledge or one-time gift of $1,000 or more to Augustana Care. Pledges may be fulfilled over a one-year period and are renewable annually.
Please consider joining the 1896 Society to support our mission to foster fullness of life for older adults and others in need.

The ancient word for philanthropy is “philanthropia,” which means a voluntary action for the common good. Philanthropy will play a crucial role in how many people Augustana Care can serve.
